Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba Chapter 199 Raw Scans, Spoilers, Release Date, Muzan’s Death and more
One of the most prolific Manga series ever developed – Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – started its original run in 2016, and is currently on its last legs as it progresses towards the ultimate battle. Written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotōge, the series is set to come out with Chapter 199, which could just be the penultimate outing, with Chapter 200 being its last one. Although it is all conjecture at this point, there is no doubt that the conclusion isn’t all that far as the narrative is clearly calling out for a climax. But if you’re a fan, you’ll be overjoyed to hear that the series is being adapted into two new games for PS4 and iOS/Android which are scheduled to release in 2021.
Reports suggest that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has been conceived as an action role player game where you can assume the role of demon slayer Tanjiro, who is attempting to bring his demon sister Nezuko back to humanity. The survival action action game will actually include beloved characters from the series and will see them traverse the map of known locations.
But coming back to the literature, things are tensing up for Tanjiro and Co. Chapter 199 could end it all and actually bring about the end for the evil demon Muzan, who transformed Nezuko into a demon. Alternatively, Muzan could somehow escape or bring about further massacre for the Pillars.
Chapter 199 is officially coming out on March 22.
What happened till now?
The last issue, Chapter 198 titled ‘The Next Thing We Knew’ dealt with the misery Muzan had caused around him. Everyone is praying for Tanjiro to come out alive at the end of this war. Fans have unanimously predicted that the epic fight between Muzan and the Pillars will reach the ultimate climax in chapter 199. Things are really interesting right now as Muzan is really weak, the demon is perhaps at his most vulnerable point yet, thanks to Tamayo’s drug which had ghastly effects on him. This also made it possible for Tanjiro to put up quite a fight.
Fans are relying on hopes that Muzan can’t kill Tanjiro, an adversary who he already considers to be weaker than the demon slayer Yoriichi. The sunset can also act as a tipping point as he is unable to walk in the sun, and this just makes him really prone to defeat right now.
But in spite of all this, is it really possible for Tanjiro and the Pillars to defeat someone as powerful as Muzan? It is important to note that Muzan is physically slower now, he is ravaged by age (he is 9,000 years old!). This can actually make it possible for Tanjiro and the Pillars to finally defeat the demon in “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” chapter 199. His cells have also been largely affected by the poison and he also cannot regenerate considering his body is quite literally diminishing away. The Pillars have also been through a lot; all of their bodies are broken in an almost irreparable way, with so many of the Pillars being injured and yet they never back down against the demon.
What happens next? (Spoilers)
Several supposed yet-untranslated scans from the last chapter have been explored by fans which aren’t all that clear but fans can determine some crucial things (the art from the hazy scans have also been appreciated tremendously by fans) As a final effort to save himself Muzan will use something called the the vore mode. No one knows yet how exactly this can empower him, but it’s obviously some sort of a boost that will help him sustain in the battle longer.
The most predictable outcome would be that Muzan attacks Tanjiro, considering he has always been his most significant nemesis, but Giyu Tomioka will end up saving him. This is actually quite poetic as Giyu is the one who recruits Tanjiro to be a demon slayer. In fact, Reddit User u/Crispytacos911 has some interesting theories along these lines; he believes that Muzan will never cease to attack, especially now that he is powerful. And though Tanjiro will not die in this onslaught, he will lose an arm.
Muzan will, of course, try to escape by going underground before the sun comes out, and that’s how he keeps himself protected against the sun. But the Stone Pillar Gyomei Himejima will stop this from happening and will stop Muzan in his tracks and actually expose him to the sun. He also believes while this will end chapter 199, the series will actually bring out a chapter 200 which will elaborate on Muzan’s death, unless Muzan actually conquers the sun!
YouTuber SageArtz theorises that Muzan believes that the demon slayer Obani Iguro will be the one to kill Muzan. Fans will remember his famous lines in chapter 188, where he was heard saying, “I want to die defeating Muzan, and I pray that it will purify my filthy blood. Then, if I am reborn as a human being in a peaceful world without Demons, I will tell you of my feelings for you,”
The gaping mouth that is on Muzan’s chest is seen biting off a section of Iguro’s face; this could mean that he jumped into save Tanjiro and gets killed in the process. According to his wishes, it would be a befitting end for the slayer. But it’s not yet confirmed if chapter 199 will show the vicious demon’s final moments. Guess we’ll just have to wait another week for that one!
For rookie’s benefit:
If you’re quite new to the world of Tanjiro, here are some essential pointers to help you figure out this universe:
- Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba follows the story of a young kind charcoal seller named Tanjiro Kamado who trains to become a demon slayer after his entire family is massacred and his sister is turned into a demon. In many ways, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is one of the most widely read revenge manga; it was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since February 2016.
- Giyu introduces them to the retired member of the Demon Slayer Corps Urokudaki Sakonji, who becomes a father figure to Tanjiro and Nezuko and takes care of them as Tanjiro trains to become a demon slayer.
- Then of course, there are The Pillars or the Hashira, featuring nine of the most elite and superior swordsmen, who will play a crucial role in Tanjiro’s life and will shape the war against Muzan.
- And then there’s Muzan, the original demon, first of his kind and an actual progenitor. His blood is so potent that it can create demons, who also has the ability to change forms; much like other antagonists he is obsessed with the idea of perfection and the ‘superior being.’ He can also regenerate and has the ability to read the thoughts of demons he has shared blood with. His biggest weakness is sunlight, which is often explored in the series.
